ALL of us at Mountain Media would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year!

Thanks to all of you who have bought books and DVD’s from us in the past year and we hope you’ve had as much enjoyment from using them as we have from making them.

2012 looks like another busy year for us – we’ll be concentrating on our Scottish National Trail, filming the route for a special television double-show later in the year and the book, which we hope will be published in late summer/early Autumn.

But coming soon will be Cameron’s Coast to Coast walk, which will be broadcast on 27th December on BBC2 Scotland, or Sky Channel 990, at 7pm. Hopefully the DVD will be available early in the New Year.

Finally, if you plan on some Yuletide expeditions to the hills over the next couple of weeks, stay safe and have fun.

Best wishes.

Looking forward to visiting Inverness on Friday (25th November) for my talk for Tiso’s at Millburn Academy. Starts at 7.30pm. I’ll be showing some video clips from over the years, going away back to one of my earlier television programmes, The Edge – 100 Years of Scottish Mountaineering, which I presented for BBC2 in 1994 or thereabouts. We’ll bring it all up to date with some clips of our big climbing extravaganza on Harris last summer, which recently won a Scottish BAFTA.

I’ll also bring along some books and DVD’s and if anyone’s in the mood for some Christmas shopping I’ll be happy to sign books or whatever.

Been down at the Kendal Mountain Festival at the weekend where I was speaking with Richard about our big project for next year, a long walking route from the Scottish Borders to Cape Wrath. I must admit it felt pretty tame stuff compared with all the high adrenaline adventures that were being discussed over the weekend. As ever it was a brilliant weekend and I must admit I enjoyed meeting up with a lot of old friends. I’ll look forward to meeting up with some old friends in Inverness too, and maybe meeting some new ones.

We’re delighted to announce that Andrew Murray’s long awaited book, Running Beyond Limits, is now available from this web site.

This is the amazing story of Andrew’s Scotland2Sahara run, the subject of a BBC Scotland documentary, in which he ran from John O Groats to Morocco last winter, to raise funds for the Yamaa Trust.

Andrew is a doctor and is very involved in sports medicine. The long run was every bit about using himself as a guinea pig as he searched for the best solutions to various sports issues such as nutrition for endurance events. The story of the Scotland2Sahara run is also woven round descriptions of other endurance running events Andrew has taken part in, including events in the Himalaya, Mongolia and the High Arctic.

Running Beyond Limits is beautifully illustrated throughout, is a hardback, and costs £19.95. It would make a magnificent Christmas present for anyone interested in running.

We are aware a large number of you have pre-ordered and to put your mind at rest we’ve just heard from the couriers that the book is now on its way and we should have copies by the end of the week. In that case we’ll work overtime all weekend to get the books out to you as soon as possible.

Running Beyond Limits is the amazing story of Andrews Scotland2Sahara run that was broadcast by the BBC earlier this year. Starting from John O Groats he ran all the way to the Sahara in Morocco without a single rest day. Towards the end of the run he was averaging in excess of 40 miles a day – incredible. The story of the run also intertwines accounts of other extreme races that Andrew has competed in, including races in rather out of the way venues like Mongolia, the Himalaya and the Arctic. It’s a great book and one that Mountain Media has been very proud to publish.

All kinds of events are planned, starting with a Fun Run which Andrew will be leading, and there will be coffee and cake on tap!

WE’RE just waiting for the first copies of our latest book to arrive from the printers.

Some of you may recall that last winter a young doctor from Edinburgh, Andrew Murray, ran from John O’Groats in northern Scotland to Morocco. We published the DVD of the excellent BBC television programme earlier this year.

Andrew has written account of that run – Scotland2Sahara – and the book, RUNNING BEYOND LIMITS – The Adventures of an Ultra Marathon Runner, is the result.

Andrew began running in 2005 when he realised it might be a good way to see the world. Since then he has won numerous endurance races in all corners of the world, including the jungle, the Arctic, the Sahara and in Outer Mongolia. He has also competed in the Everest Marathin in Nepal.

As an expedition/event doctor Andrew has worked on six continents and the geographic North Pole where he has been able to study the effects of extreme conditions on some of the toughest athletes in the world.

RUNNING BEYOND LIMITS is the story of the remarkable Scotland to Sahara run, interwoven between tales from some of the most extreme running events imaginable. The Foreword has been kindly written by Sir Ranulph Fiennes.

We’re currently taking pre-orders for the book. Check it out in our Web Store.
